Question by Jamie1980: Alternative to hierachy type dog training?
We have been advised that the hierachy type training is based on flawed studies as they are from wolf packs in capitivity, thus not reflecting how they behave in the wild.This goes against the grain of the traditional advice but actually seems to be a much easier way of training a dog can anyone give be a link to anyone who supports this idea
the idea is that in packs when food is in abudance the sick and elderley eat first, not the alpha female and male. when they meet they all greet each other rather than ignoring each other till everyone is calm

A lot of dogs will actually bite if their collar is grabbed when they are loose and fearful after having run away. This video was inspired by the little Shiba Inu I caught this morning at the park after it had ran away. Question by : DOES ANYONE KNOW OF DOG SHOW TRAINING CLASSES IN WEST SUSSEX?
I want to find a dog training centre that would teach me and my dalmatian to preform in the show ring as I want to start showing my puppy soon does any one know where I could find one in WEST SUSSEX AREA? would be great to know thanks.

Answer by MamaBas Can’t help you specifically, but start by asking at the local vets – they usually know where classes are being held. You obviously need Ringcraft rather than Obedience, but if you can’t find one that offers this specifically, go to the Obedience class, and ask to stack your dog when they call for sitting, and get them to add in time for somebody to ‘go over’ your dog. We did this when we lived in the Saffron Walden area.
You might also contact the breeder of your dog, assuming she’s in your area. She may be able to help, and also give a ‘free opinion’ of your dog. Showing is darned expensive these days, and hugely competitive, even at the lowest levels so make sure you have a puppy who is truly good enough to take into the ring! Rose coloured specs.off-time.
If you go showing, remember you always bring the best dog home with you ….. sometimes being chucked out with the rubbish hurts – and it happens to the best of us under the ‘wrong judge’ haha.

Lucky you – there’s nothing closer than a 40 min. drive from where we now live……….!!
